Uniform Information

Though uniforms aren’t required, members are encouraged to wear their uniforms whenever they are helping out at an event or just for fun to provide visibility. Besides, we look darn cool in our uniforms and we have the best looking uniforms of any of the Boy groups that I’ve seen.

When you join SBOL as a full member you get two patches. One goes on the sleeve of your shirt, the other goes on the front of your black baseball cap.

It’s up to you to get the rest of the stuff.

Head: black baseball cap with SBOL patch sewn onto the middle. Cap can be either cloth or leather.

Torso: black button down uniform shirt. Short or long sleeved.
Must have the following detail:
• One breast pocket each side
• Epaulettes
• fold-down collar
Shirts can be obtained at any uniform supply shop.

On the shirt the following:
• Epaulette covers, hunter green for members, red for current officers. Red epaulette covers can be obtained from the Boy Scout store. Green ones have to be made.
• Name Tag: black rectangle with white block lettering. Your Name in large letters with Seattle Boys of Leather below in smaller letters. Advise; the nametags with magnets and safety pin style fasteners don’t work.
• Pins: Blue and white ribbon for recipients of the merit award, red for anybody that has ever had an officer position, rainbow for all members. A number pin indicating years of membership can be worn on the rainbow ribbon. The ribbons and pins can be found at military surplus stores, SBOL has some of the pins and ribbons already.
• A title vest should not be worn over the uniform.

Legs:
any of the following;
• hunter green denim pants with or without black stripe
• or black pants with hunter green stripe
• black leather pants
• Nice black kilt, either leather or cloth
if none of the aforementioned are available, black denim pants.
Please no ratty pants or kilts with holes, or non-leather/denim/vinyl pants. (i.e. No chinos or dress slacks) and please kilt lovers, no weird socks

Patch: one SBOL patch to be sewn onto the left upper sleeve.

Waist: black belt. Plain unless it is a title belt.

Feet: black boots or leather shoes

Note about the Sam Browne shoulder harness. Supposedly only founders are supposed to wear the shoulder belt, however since they look so cool, if anybody else wants to buy and wear one, they should feel free to do so.
